Amy Jewitt

Director

Native to York County, Amy grew up on a farm and learned to love the land from her father, a crop farmer of 27 years. It was from Amy's growing-up years and time spent on her family's farm that she learned the value of protecting undeveloped land, both natural and agricultural, for the benefit of future generations.

In 2009, Amy earned a B.S. in Agricultural Science from The Pennsylvania State University. Additionally, she achieved minors in International Agriculture, Horticulture, and Leadership Development.

In 2012, Amy moved to western Pennsylvania, and later in 2013, she and her husband, Aaron, bought a home in Valencia, PA. Amy currently works in Pittsburgh for the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, specifically for the Pennsylvania Natural Heritage Program. She serves as the coordinator of an online database called iMapInvasives, a program used to track locations of invasive species found in Pennsylvania as well as their associated control and management efforts.

Amy joined the Glade Run Lake Conservancy (GRLC) in 2018 and is in charge of managing the GRLC's new website which she created and designed. She also assists with stewardship of Glade Run Lake Park by planting trees, including five young chestnut trees provided by the American Chestnut Foundation that were planted in May 2019.

In her spare time, Amy enjoys traveling to new places, vegetable gardening, planting native plants, kayaking, hiking, and spending time at Glade Run Lake Park with her husband, Aaron, daughter Eden, and Isabelle, their English springer spaniel.
