Fond Memories of Fishing with my Grandfather at Glade Run Lake

Updated: Feb 13, 2021

The Glade Run Lake Conservancy (GRLC) is beginning to publish stories on our website's blog from community members that enjoy and appreciate Glade Run Lake. This first story, written by Matt S., is hopefully just the beginning of many more stories we are able to share with you.

Thank you Matt for being the first to share your story with us!

To tell us your experiences and fond memories of time spent at Glade Run Lake, please contact us through our website. We look forward to sharing your story on our blog as well!

My grandfather used to bring me to Glade Run Lake as a young boy to fish for trout from a boat. This was a unique experience for me because fishing from a boat for trout seemed odd, but was still a lot of fun.

I grew up fishing in Erie most weekends with my dad, and then lived there for 10 years where I continued to spend a lot of my time fishing. However, no matter how much time went by, I always remembered fishing from that small boat in Glade Run Lake.

When my wife and I were at Cranberry Community Days a few years ago, we saw the GRLC booth that was accepting donations from the community to rebuild the dam. Based on my fond memories of fishing at the lake, I just had to chip in.

The early memories of fishing with my grandfather will always be cherished.
